Women in the Sciences and Engineering (WISE)

Penn State Wilkes-Barre will be conducting another Women in the Sciences and Engineering (WISE) program in 2013 for young women in grades 6-8.  The primary mission of the WISE program is to facilitate the entry and success of women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

The focus of the 2012 WISE program was Lego Mindstorm Robotics.  Students received hands-on instruction in exploring robotics.  They learned how to write their own programs that allowed their robots to move, sense, and react to its environment.  The young women also engaged in interactive career exploration activities, received valuable information about STEM occupations, and visited a local business to experience “real-world” industrial robots at work.

For more information about the 2013 WISE program, please call 570-675-9253 or email wbce@outreach.psu.edu.
