Executive Management Series

Overview

The Executive Management Series is scheduled biannually in the spring and fall to address a variety of pressing issues of importance to the community’s business leaders. Some of the topics addressed since the series’ premier in 1999 have included recruitment and retention challenges, e-commerce issues, marketing trends and leadership in difficult times. The events also introduce participants to Penn State resources. This enables them to further address problems their organizations may be experiencing related to the topics of discussion in the series.

If there is a topic you are interested in learning about that would serve your business needs, please email us at wbce@outreach.psu.edu. Your input is very valuable to us and your ideas are welcome.

Fall 2014 Executive Management Series

Healthy Workforce... Healthy Community!

Please join Chancellor Dr. Charles Davis and the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Continuing Education department on Friday, October 31, 2014 for their Executive Management Series, co-sponsored by the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce. Breakfast will be served.

At this event, two traditionally separate events are being combined — a Penn State Executive Management Forum and the Chambers' Healthy Workplace Awards Luncheon. Our keynote speaker, Chamber President Wico van Genderen, will be discussing plans for the Chamber and our community.

Mr. van Genderen is a global executive with 30 years of experience. Van Genderen most recently served as Chief Operating Officer/Vice President and Managing Director for Diebold Corporation’s Asia Pacific Operations. He previously served Diebold as Corporate Vice President/Global Marketing and Product Management, Vice President of Sales and Marketing/North America, and Area Vice President of Eastern Area Sales in the United States. He was a member of the cross-functional team focused on re-engineering processes that led to a reorganization at Interbold, an IBM and Diebold joint venture. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and business at Rutgers University and a master of business administration from Drexel University before starting his professional career at IBM. A member of the Shanghai American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, China. Wanting to reinvest in the community and its future, van Genderen also served as a Junior Achievement volunteer, teaching in the inner city Philadelphia Public School System, aiming to help improve graduation rates and increase college enrollment.
