Project Management Certificate

Organizations are struggling daily to deliver complex projects on time and under budget. Learn project-based methods to accomplish tasks through project management.

Penn State is a Project Management Institute (PMI) Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.). We are committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of project management stakeholders. If you have been planning to enhance your project management skills and knowledge and prepare for the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, now is the time to enroll in our course. As part of the certificate program curriculum, students will work on a project that is carried through all four required courses.

Project Management Certificate courses

To receive the Project Management Certificate, all of the following four courses must be successfully completed:

Course 1 – Project Initiation and Planning (PJMGT 5000)

This course introduces the student to the project management process; the role of the project manager; project communications; and project leadership. It begins the planning process covering topics such as project objectives, scope, and success criteria.

Course 2 – Project Scheduling and Integration (PJMGT 5001A)

This course continues to build upon the lessons learned in "Project Initiation and Planning." Content covers the work breakdown structure; project schedule; PERT/GANTT/CPM methods; and project integration.

Course 3 – Project Costing and Control (PJMGT 5002)

This course continues along the Project Cycle and introduces the concepts of selection criteria; procurement; cost estimating; and control mechanisms.

Course 4 – Project Risk and Change Management (PJMGT 5003)

This last course in the series introduces the student to risk and change management; team responsibilities; conflicts; quality; ethics; and closeout.


Dates: Thursdays April 14 to June 9, 2016

Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Location: NEPIRC Facility, 75 Young Street, Wilkes-Barre

Instructor: Ann Tomalavage, PE, PMP, Master in Civil Engineering

Fee: $2600 per person ($2250 per person for 2 or more enrollments from the same organization). Includes the Project Management Book of Knowledge.
