Marion Spencer retires
Marion Spencer, staff assistant in the office of academic affairs, retired on September 30, 2005, after having served the University for seventeen years. Spencer started with Penn State Wilkes-Barre on a part-time basis in 1988 and worked in learning support services, advising, academic affairs, print/copy services, and the cafeteria before becoming a full-time employee in the academic affairs/advising center in 1994. In 2000, she accepted the position of staff assistant to the director of academic affairs.
Spencer has received numerous awards over the years including three Hayfield Awards: Excellence in Performance in 1992 and the Fran Brown Humanitarian Award in 1999 and 2003. She also received the Professional Development Award in 1992, the Penn Stater of the Quarter Award in 1998, and the Campus Environment Team Award for exemplary service to students in 1998.
A dinner to celebrate Spencer’s achievements and retirement was held at the Villa Roma at Harveys Lake.
