Basic martial arts classes planned
An introductory workshop in the formal Korean style of martial arts with an emphasis on the basics will be offered at Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Tuesdays, April 29 and May 6 from 6-8 p.m. This workshop will cover basic stances, punches and kicks; basic street self-defense (strategies to avoid problems, mental preparedness, and simple holding escape techniques); martial arts as a form of physical & mental exercise; the philosophy of self-defense: focus, power, & speed; and elementary “emergency” type techniques. All classes begin with stretching warm-ups and basic exercises. Participants should come dressed in comfortable, loose clothing.
Certified instructor, Dudley Snyder, Ph.D., holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt (Deputy Master) in the World Tang Soo Do Association.
