SGA donates putting green to honor John R. Murphy
Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Student Government Association (SGA) recently dedicated a new putting green named in honor of John R. Murphy, director of student affairs, at the campus in Lehman. The SGA funded the installation of the green to honor Murphy’s thirty-eight years of service to the Wilkes-Barre campus and the University.
“I think most faculty and staff would agree that the recognition we receive from students is always the most meaningful,” said Murphy. “I was enormously surprised and personally touched when the students announced their intention to install this putting green.” Murphy, a Dallas resident, will retire from Penn State in January.
The green was installed by All Seasons Putting Greens, a company owned by Penn State Wilkes-Barre alumnus, Chris Schwartz. The landscaping was designed by Rave’s Landscaping and placed by the campus maintenance crew.
