Community Room

The Community Room in Hayfield House, once the family living room, is used regularly by students, faculty, staff, and community groups for all types of events.
When the house was built, the floor in this room was covered with a custom-made Oriental rug which replicated the designs on the ceiling. Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Conyngham still hang on the walls. The marble fireplace to the right of the entrance is several hundred years old. Legend has it that it came from Emperor Franz Josef's Hofsburg Palace in Vienna. The fireplace on the left side is an exact copy of the fireplace on the right.
